  • Why A Professional Cleaner?

You spent a lot of time, energy and money selecting your wedding gown; your cherished possession. It reminds you of this special, joyous event in your lives together. Naturally, you want to preserve your gown at its loveliest; as it was on your wedding day. This is best accomplished by having it properly cleaned, repaired, pressed, and then preserved in our trademarked acid-free MuseumCareTM container.  Call any of our stores and ask to schedule a FREE CONSULTATION.  At the appointed time you will meet with one of our Wedding Gown Specialists who will assess your gown, answer your questions, quote the services you request.

It's best to clean and preserve your gown immediately after the wedding. Over time stains become more and more difficult to remove. The sooner it's properly cleaned and preserved, the better results you'll have. Unprotected, your gown will fade, turn yellow and latent sugar stains will appear as brown spots. Eventually, it can deteriorate and become brittle in areas.

When you wish to inspect your gown, simply open the box.  You will NOT damage the gown or void any guarantee by opening the box!  Family heirlooms are meant to be worn and enjoyed.  After all, that's the reason you preserved it in the first place!  Just be sure your hands and the surrounding areas are clean.  We recommend using cotton gloves when handling your gown.  If the gown is worn or handled significantly, we recommend having us re-clean it and repackage it. It is very important that your MuseumCareTM Chest be kept in a cool, dry place. Do NOT store it in the attic or basement. The attic heat can damage the fabric and basement dampness can cause mildew.

Planning Ahead?!  One thing you can do is to make arrangements with us before your wedding. Ask someone (Mom, Dad, maid of honor) to bring us your gown right after the wedding. We will start working on it while you're on your honeymoon!  If that's not possible, we can arrange to have a carton labeled and ready for mail service pickup.  We're here to help make your wedding gown the least of your worries!

We carefully inspect and prepare your bridal gown before cleaning. We check for spots, age, wear areas, any and all needed repairs; loose buttons or beads, open seams, tears, damaged zippers, etc., anything that should be fixed. Beads and other trims are tested for "clean-ability". Some preparation is done before cleaning.  We remove embellishments like flowers or broaches and cover delicate beadwork so they don't become damaged during cleaning.
Your gown is then professionally spot cleaned and gently cleaned by itself in our machines programmed for wedding gowns.  This is generally a shorter, cooler cycle than regular dry cleaning.  Once it has been thoroughly cleaned it is checked again. If necessary it is post spotted, then skillfully hand pressed.
Any other finishing touches, like re-sewing buttons or trims, more repairs, etc., are done at this time. We then perform another complete inspection of your gown to insure that it is in as perfect condition as it can be and is ready for long-term storage.

Unlike most dry-cleaners, we encourage you to make an appointment with us to PERSONALLY inspect your gown BEFORE we package it.  We want you to KNOW your gown is clean and ready for final packaging.  No worrying about your gown and no surprises in the years to come!

Once you've inspected it and are satisfied that it is ready to be boxed, your gown is lightly steamed to reduce wrinkling, cushioned with special acid-free tissue to help retain the soft flow of the gown and carefully folded before it is placed in our trademarked MuseumCare™ acid-free storage box.

For that added touch of luxury and protection you may wish to upgrade your storage to include wrapping your gown in our custom made muslin wraps.  Muslin has been used for ages as a preservative cover. In addition to the interior muslin, the outer carton is wrapped in another special 100% cotton outer cover. Twin City Cleaners includes these added protections as part of our Couture Preservation.
We guarantee you'll be impressed with the level of knowledge and attention to detail your gown is given. We think you're worth it.
Once your gown has been properly cleaned, repaired and pressed, the container is what keeps your gown in pristine condition through the years.
Several years ago, museum conservators met with representatives of commercial paper companies out of a concern about apparent deterioration (yellowing, brown spots, staining, streaking, friability, etc.,) of their textiles stored in standard cardboard boxes. After research and testing, they realized that those standard boxes had become increasingly acidic over time, causing the degradation and discoloration of the contents.

We suggest taking advantage of our FREE CONSULTATION with no obligation.  Call or come by any of our locations during our regular business hours or call to make an appointment.  One of our Associate Wedding Gown Specialists will be on duty to receive your gown.

Our prices for wedding gowns vary, as it depends on style and fabrics.
